Since 2012, the Carton Plein Association has been offering eco-responsible removals in Paris.
Moving house in Paris often means traffic jams, parking problems, demand for occupation of public space, etc. All these little things can make your moving day the most stressful of the year. So are you ready for a different kind of move?
Since 2012, the Carton Plein Association has been offering the opportunity to move in an eco-responsible manner.
The Association collects moving and delivery boxes in good condition from individuals and professionals to give them a new life. After a check-up and some tinkering, if necessary, Carton Plein offers these boxes for your removals. On their website (https://www.cartonplein.org/) you can buy "moving packs" or individual boxes according to your needs.
Your move will be carried out with zero carbon emissions as it will be done by electric bicycle equipped with a trailer.
Once equipped with "second-hand" packaging, Carton Plein offers a removal service for individuals and professionals. Your move will be carried out with zero carbon emissions as it will be done by electric bicycle equipped with a trailer. Your boxes are placed on the trailer which holds 2m³. The movers will take them to their new home avoiding traffic jams and parking problems. The association carries out removals within a very close proximity, within a 10 km radius.
The economic aspects are also interesting: the boxes sold are two and a half times cheaper than a new box. Removals by bicycle are also much more economical than a traditional removal. A move that combines ecology and economy. But not just that!
Circular and supportive
Carton Plein has always had strong social and inclusive values. The two founding members, Francis Bouchiba and Antoine Aumonier, wanted their activity to enable vulnerable and socially excluded people (homeless, no qualifications, without sufficient income, etc.) to find a few hours of work. To go even further, they have created a social integration company to help their employees find stable and sustainable employment. Each year, more than 70 people find employment through Carton Plein.
A training component supplements this first activity. It aims to train people who would like to become a cyclo-logistician (delivery by cargo bike) or to create their own cargo bike delivery business.
As bicycles become more and more popular in our cities, removals by cargo bike have a bright future ahead of them. Similar services exist in several other French cities. Carton Plein also hopes that its circular and supportive model will be adopted elsewhere!
